COD: Advanced Warfare Is Running At a Bizarre Resolution On The Xbox One
Earlier this week, Michael Condrey from Sledgehammer Games confirmed that the Xbox One version of the game is running at 1360 x 1080, and will scale dynamically to 1920 x 1080 in less busy areas of the game. Does that sound weird to you? It certainly should.
Stretching and scaling quirks aside, this is good news for Xbox One owners. Call of Duty: Ghosts maxed out at 1280 x 720 (921,600 pixels) on the Xbox One, so the upgrade to a minimum of 1360 x 1080 (1,468,800 pixels) is a big improvement. That’s a 1.59x increase in the number of pixels being output. The more visual fidelity, the better.
During busy action scenes, the PS4 version of Advanced Warfare frequently dips into the 50s. By comparison, the Xbox One version stays pegged at 60 nearly the entire time. This might be possible to fix with a patch, but as it stands, the PS4 version has a little bit of a stuttering problem. It’s just a shame that we’re nearly a full year into this console generation, and 1080p60 is still a rarity among major AAA games.Watch trailer of Cod:Advanced Warfare
Idris Elba X-Men: Apocalypse rumours inaccurate
X-Men: Apocalypse is on the casting trail, and yesterday The Wrap’s Jeff Sneider suggested that Idris Elba was in the running to play the titular villain.
Making an appearance on the Meet The Movie Press podcast, Sneider claimed that there are three names being considered for the role, teasing the frontrunner by revealing, “we heard him say the word ‘Apocalypse’ a lot last year”.
That seemed a fairly explicit reference to Elba, whose Pacific Rim line, “today we are cancelling the apocalypse”, went viral on social media last year, with the actor himself repeating the line on demand.
It had previously been reported that Tom Hardy was the first choice to take the part of Apocalypse, but according to Sneider he was not one of the three names being turned over by Fox.
But later in the day, it was revealed that in fact Oscar Isaac will play the villain role.
Directed by Bryan Singer and co-starring Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence, X-Men: Apocalypse will open in the UK on 19 May 2016, before reaching the US on the 27th of the same month.

Elite fans protest over losing offline mode
Fans of forthcoming space-trading game Elite Dangerous are up-in-arms over plans to drop an offline version of the title.
Hundreds of comments have been posted to Elite's forums saying its creator has "broken" promises made by the firm.
Many say they only backed Elite on Kickstarter because of the plan to let people play even if they were offline.
Elite developer Frontier said the way it had chosen to represent the galaxy made an offline version "impractical".
Unacceptable limits
The news about the offline mode being dropped came in a regular weekly update sent to those who have paid to play the game as it is being developed.
The revelation sparked a huge debate in Frontier's support forums and prompted Michael Brooks, executive producer of Elite at Frontier, to visit the forums to answer the huge number of questions being asked. Currently the row about the decision fills more than 480 pages on the Frontier support forums.
Asked if offline mode would ever be implemented, Mr Brookes replied: "Probably not."
He said Frontier had not taken the decision "lightly" and added: "Having to hamper the game to work offline would have meant that we couldn't deliver the game we're making."
Mr Brookes said the mechanics of the galaxy which players explore, trade and fight in, sit on servers that are online.
"The data set and processes are huge and not something that would translate offline without considerable compromise to the vision," he said.
"A fully offline experience would be unacceptably limited and static compared to the dynamic, ever-unfolding experience we are delivering," said Mr Brookes, adding: "Trust me we didn't sit down and think, What would annoy people the most?'"
He said Frontier had only made the announcement now because it had been looking at ways to make a workable offline version. However, he said, it had now become clear that it did not have the resources to produce what would be, in effect, two separate versions of the same game.
Frontier raised more than £1.5m via its Kickstarter campaign and since then, has raised £7.5m from more than 140,000 people who have been playing the various beta or test versions of Elite as it is being developed.
Alec Meer from game news site Rock Paper Shotgun said Frontier was "playing with fire" by deciding to drop the offline version.
"This is a game that's gone a long way on goodwill so far, and endangering that is a high-stakes game," he said.
Elite had its origins as an offline, entirely single-player game, he said, and many people were expecting to see something similar in the 2014 version.
"The dynamic universe features may be impressive but some players prefer to not have their game-world even slightly affected by others," he said, adding that the pressure was now on Frontier to amply demonstrate that those server-side features did produce a better game.
Mr Meer added that in many countries the kind of stable, fast internet connection the game will require is not available.
"Elite's exactly the kind of game that someone bored out of their mind in the back of beyond would want to disappear into for hours at a time, and perhaps now they won't be able to," he said.
GTA 5 Person Mode Pc Game DELAYED ?
We all, specifically the PC gaming community are well aware of the fact that how much GTA 5 was delayed for release. At first none of us actually believed that the game would ever come for PC. I did make mention of its release in my previous articles but people thought it was bogus news. GTA 5 is set to release for PC on 27 January 2015. The date is even ahead of next-gen consoles.
GTA 5 First Person Mod
Apart from the superior graphics offered in the next-gen console and PC release for GTA 5 there is an added feature of First Person Mod, which allows the user to experience GTA 5 in first person view when ever he likes.
Rockstar made a smart move to add an additional feature or else the majority who had already played the game on their old consoles might not buy it for their new consoles just to experience better visuals (which has never been a problem for console gamers).
PC Release Delayed
This is entirely my personal opinion but many of you might agree with it. If a game comes out on PC it has a lot of room for customization from modding communities. The most famous example would be of Skyrim and GTA 4. Both these games were heavily modded and even till this day the modding community is busy bringing up new mods.
So back to the point, here is a picture of GTA 4 having a first person mod created by the modding community.
My point is that, if GTA 5 would have come out along with PS3 and Xbox 360, the modding community would easily have created a GTA 5 first person mod. It was also likely that the PC release would have gotten superior graphics over the old gen consoles. This could have stolen the selling point from Rockstar Studios and it certainly would not have been cool to add in an official GTA 5 first person mod later on. Hence, to make sure their future sales were not affected they delayed the release of GTA 5 for PC.
That is what I personally believe, do share your point of view on this.
Your First Look at the Game of Thrones Videogame Trailer
Game of Thrones is coming. No, not the HBO show—you still have to wait till 2015 for that—but rather the highly anticipated videogame coming from Telltale Games. The first chapter of the game’s six episodes is due out before the end of the year for PC, Mac, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and iOS.
Today, we’ve finally got our first look at the trailer, whose narrator sounds very much like actor Lena Headey. It also features some familiar faces: Cersei, Tyrion, Margaery Tyrell, Ramsay Bolton, and a guy getting tortured by Ramsay who may or may not be Theon.
The game will be based on the TV show, not the books, and focus on a Northern family called House Forrester towards the end of the third season and finishes at the end of the fourth season.
WIRED can also exclusively reveal an original character in the game, by the name of Maester Ortengryn.
Here’s the character description provided by Telltale:
Originating from a minor house in the Vale, Maester Ortengryn studied at the Citadel in the hope of being assigned to the Eyrie. But by the time he’d earned enough links on his chain to graduate from acolyte, Jon Arryn had been murdered and the South was in turmoil. The Citadel ultimately assigned Maester Ortengryn to Ironrath, where he soon came to respect the Forrester family’s honor and integrity. He now serves the Forresters with pride and has become a trusted advisor to the Lord.
While we’ll have a chance to visit familiar locales like King’s Landing and the Wall, we’ll also spend a fair amount time in the frozen North, especially in Ironrath, an “imposing stronghold surrounded by towering ironwood trees” that serves as the seat of House Forrester:
Built over fifteen hundred years ago by Cedric Forrester and his triplet sons, Ironrath is a testament to the strength and endurance of Ironwood. The Forrester house words are ‘Iron from Ice’, which echoes their belief that – like the ironwood itself – the adverse conditions and unforgiving landscape of the North only makes them stronger.
The Forresters have come up in the books before (though not the TV show), thanks to a passing mention in A Dance with Dragons. They’re bannermen to House Glover of Deepwood Motte, and have long been loyal to the Starks, though we’re told little beyond that.
Ironrath is located in the Wolfswood, a massive forest that sprawls across the northwest of the North. It’s also conveniently located on the edge of the largest ironwood forest in Westeros, giving the Forresters control of a valuable resource often used build weapons and ships. (Fun fact: When Ned Stark beheaded that guy in the beginning of Game of Thrones, it was on an ironwood stump!) We’re told that their good fortune has attracted the particular jealousy of their sure-to-be-evil rivals known as House Whitehill.
Indeed, the trailer involves some ominous threats from Cersei, who mentions how important the ironwood is to the Forresters and suggests that “it would be a shame to let it fall into the hands of another house. I imagine you’d do anything to prevent that from happening, wouldn’t you?”
According to Telltale, unspecified events—likely relating to Cersei’s threats—will put House Forrester into a “precarious position” that could spell their doom. And perhaps… send a protagonist on an exciting journey to achieve a thing?
Throughout the course of the game, you’ll actually get to play as five different members of House Forrester — either blood relatives or those serving them — across both Westeros and the eastern continent of Essos. The qualification that not all playable characters are actual members of the family suggests that Maester Ortengryn may indeed be one of them, since he was merely assigned to the House by the Citadel, and not born into it.
A previous teaser for the game included a quote from Storm of Swords mentioning “squids in the Wolfswood and flayed men [riding] the Kingsroad,” a reference to the Greyjoys and the Boltons in the North. The third season of the television show ends with Roose Bolton named Warden in the North, so chances are the Forresters will be asked to swear fealty to House Bolton —and the man widely known to have betrayed and killed Robb Stark, their former lord.
The Greyjoy angle is a little more uncertain, since Yara’s doomed invasion to rescue Theon didn’t take her anywhere near the Wolfswood (the Bolton Dreadfort is located in the East) though the Ironborn could still factor in in one way or another. Since the end of the fourth season also sees the arrival of Stannis Baratheon at the Wall, he—and dare we hope, the Battle for Castle Black?—could easily play a role in this Northern drama as well.
Much like on the show, the decisions that one character makes can have potentially far-reaching consequences, with impacts that felt even in distant cities—and by the other characters you play.

Far Cry 4 :Review
You think you’ve never been to Far Cry 4’s Kyrat before, but you have. Many times, in fact. Level the Himalayan backdrop, strip out the regional touches - wandering sherpas who’ll sell you rocket launchers, tumbled statues of the Buddha, those godforsaken Honey Badgers - and you’re left, basically, with Far Cry 3’s Rook Island. Which was, in turn, a tropical reincarnation of Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood’s expanse of towers and strongholds. Seven years on from the original Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft Montreal’s battle-proven blueprint for open world games is beginning to show signs of combat fatigue. While an entertaining, hectic shooter, Far Cry 4 feels a bit too much like a sequel for the sake of it.
The game’s greatest strength is once again its explosive volatility, backed up by hefty, lumbering gun handling and movement that encourages players to hang back and radar-tag groups of foes with a phone camera, before deciding how to dispose of them. You won’t always have the luxury, however. A sample scenario: crossing a bridge in my jeep, I run into an enemy courier (you can nobble these guys for Karma, a new flavour of XP that unlocks special perks such as summonable reinforcements and shop discounts). Popping my sawed-off shotgun out the window, I blast the guy clean off his quadbike, then stop the car and get out to loot the corpse, which begins to slide into the river.
As I'm rushing to intercept it, however, a rhino reduces my car to scrap metal. So I jump into the river. Scrambling up the opposite bank, I discover that the rhino has barged into a shoot-out between the local rebels and Kyrat's Royal Guard. Fortunately, I'm able to commandeer a nearby gyrocopter and carpet-bomb the whole sorry business with Molotov cocktails – which doesn't stop a hidden archer putting an arrow through my ear.
Far Cry 4’s occasional brilliance lies in how it slops together all these variables without completely losing coherence - exploration is once again pegged down by the process of claiming radio towers and bases, gradually tilting Kyrat’s balance of power your way. It’s saying something about how compelling this side of the game can be that even the sporadic glitches, such as AI path-finding problems, feel like valuable additions to the chaos.
